STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Angela Williams
Learn more about Angela Williams, an assistant in our children's department.
How long have you worked at Cuyahoga Falls Library?
I've worked here for about two and a half years.
What do you like best about working in the children's department?
I have a lot of fun conducting story times and dreaming up new programs. Spy Camp was a personal favorite, but I think the best part of my job is recommending books to patrons. I love chatting with kids to find o
ut what they've read and loved, then pointing them in the direction of something new I think they'll enjoy!
Is there something about you that might surprise people?
I'm a big comic book fan! I especially love Spider-Man, the Avengers, and Batman, though Matt Fraction's Hawkeye is probably my current favorite series. The fact that I have to wait until May 2015 for the next Avengers movie is testing my patience terribly.
What book or series would you recommend?
Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors; she writes some of the best girl characters I've ever read, so I would recommend pretty much everything she's written. I also love Spindle's End by Robin McKinley, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. And if you haven't yet read Harry Potter, please come see me in the children's department so we can have a discussion about reevaluating your life choices.
What are your hobbies?
I spend a lot of my time reading (obviously), writing, and singing. I'm teaching myself the guitar, and I'm working on improving my drawing skills as well. I like hiking and biking, too - I try to get a little exercise in between all the books I read!
How would you describe Cuyahoga Falls Library?
I've been coming to the library since I was as young as the kids I have in story time. I have fond memories of Mrs. Clark's humorous spin on Little Miss Muffet, participating in the summer reading program, and volunteering here as a teenager. The library is practically a second home at this point, and I feel incredibly lucky to have a job I enjoy this much in a place that's so near and dear to me.
